Heraclitus (540-470 BC) was a pre-Socratic philosopher from Asia Minor. He wrote with extreme complexity about science, theology and human relations. He was considered the forerunner of dialectics and one of the founders of metaphysics.
Heraclitus was born in Ephesus, a former Greek colony, in Asia Minor (present-day Turkey), in the year 540 B.C. Son of a traditional family of priests, he gave up his rights in favor of his brother.
He dedicated himself to study and reflections in search of the natural explanation of the universe.
Heraclitus tried to find “physis” - the principle that generates and regulates all things in nature without resorting to deities.
